This Golf Putting Mat With Automatic Ball Return is fun but I'm not sure I'd call the ball return automatic. I mean, technically it is but, it's not an electric ball return, it's low tech. It just uses gravity. When you hit the ball into the hole, or into the track behind it, it's supposed to roll out onto the track on the right and follow it all the way back to you. And it does…usually. As long as you modify it. And as long as you hit the ball hard enough. Unfortunately, in our experience, by just putting this together and trying to use it on a level floor (picture included to prove the floor was level), the ball wouldn't automatically return if you hit it into the hole or into the track behind the hole, like it's supposed to. We put some blocks underneath the area where the hole is and the return track starts and that pretty much worked, but sometimes the return trip was REALLY slow, seeming like it may not make it all the way back to us if we hadn't hit the ball hard enough that time. We tried to think of other explanations as to why this return trip seemed so difficult…did we not put it together right? Was it damaged in shipping? No to both. There's really not many ways to put it together and, although the box was kind of beat up, there was no damage nor any marks on either the mat or the track. The material for the mat is kind of thin, but it is well marked and, I feel, effective for what it does. The track itself isn't what I would call incredibly sturdy. The track comes in pieces and you have to put it together, so maybe that has something to do with it not seeming as sturdy. I get why it can't be all one piece, but…ya know…still…seemingly less sturdy. All that being said, I do still firmly believe it deserves 3 starts because it IS fun and technically it serves the purpose for which it was intended…as long as you accept it for what it appears to be…a low tech, kind of imperfect way to practice putting.
